Kushal Sohal was a postgraduate student reading for the MSc in Modern South Asian Studies at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford. His research focuses on twentieth-century Indian educational philosophy, namely the ideas of Rabindranath Tagore and M.K. Gandhi. He explores their approaches to diversity and vulnerability in the educational space. For this project, he has explored: a broadly spiritually-humanist mode of Indian educational thinking, narratives in Hindi Cinema (2000-2020), and the educational priorities of different political parties in India. Kushal has also engaged with the ideas of an array of contemporary path-breaking educators as part of a series of solution-focused interviews. These conversations explore different understandings of the purpose of education, the core obstacles to reform, and hopes for the Indian educational future.
Kushal Sohal conducted a series of conversations on the theme 'Visions of Education', which is available here - https://educationsouthasia.web.ox.ac.uk/conversations
